Sedation
Your comfort is our first priority. Many patients struggle with feelings of nervousness , anxiety, or even outright fear when faced with an upcoming visit to the dentist’s office. Thankfully, sedation dentistry can help take the edge of those negative emotions and make even the most extensive procedure pleasant and worry-free.
We offer you different types of sedation based on the level of your anxiety.
You may have heard your dentist mention”laughing gas”. Laughing gas is the common name for nitrous oxide. It is a safe and effective mild sedation administered to dental patients through a mask in an oxygen mixture. Laughing gas won’t put you to sleep like general anesthesia. Inhaling this mixture will make you feel a slight tingling sensation. You will have a feeling of general numbness throughout the body and become a bit light headed, but you will still be able to communicate with your dentist throughout the procedure.
The procedure of administering laughing gas is quite simple. It does not require shots or IVs for administration. By breathing normally through a facemask, you can absorb the gas through the lungs and quickly feel the sedative effects. Once the mask has been removed, the effects will wear off quickly by simply inhaling and exhaling.
